My heart is with the commanders of Israel, with those who volunteered for war. Praise the Lord!

The people rejoiced over the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord, and King David was filled with joy.

“ Israel’s leaders took charge, and the people gladly followed. Praise the Lord!

But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!

For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will.They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem.They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do.

Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.

I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously.

When you go to war, your people will serve you willingly. You are arrayed in holy garments, and your strength will be renewed each day like the morning dew.
