日益加重，两年后肠子掉了出来，他痛苦地死去了。他的百姓没有像对待他祖先那样向他焚火致哀。

你必安然去世。人们必为你烧香，像为你的先王烧香一样，他们必为你哀悼说，唉，我主啊！’这是我耶和华说的。”

过了安息日，抹大拉的玛丽亚、雅各的母亲玛丽亚和撒罗米买了香料，要去抹耶稣的遗体。

曾经夜访耶稣的尼哥德慕也来了，他带来了没药和沉香调成的香料，重约三十四公斤。他们按照犹太人殡葬的习俗，用细麻布加上香料把耶稣的遗体裹好。在耶稣被钉十字架的地方有一个园子，里边有一座新坟墓，从来没有安葬过人。因为那天是犹太人的预备日，这座新坟墓也在附近，他们就把耶稣安放在那里。

他的仆人就扶他下战车，上另一辆战车，送到耶路撒冷。约西亚死在那里，葬在他祖先的坟墓里。所有犹大和耶路撒冷的人都为他哀悼。

“你在这里做什么？你凭什么在这里为自己挖坟墓，在高处为自己挖坟墓，在磐石上为自己凿安息之所？

死苍蝇会使芬芳的膏油发臭，同样，一点点愚昧足以毁掉智慧和尊荣。

按着调制香料的方法制作圣膏油。要用这些膏油来抹会幕、约柜、桌子和桌上所有的器具、灯台和灯台上的器具、香坛、燔祭坛和坛上所有的器具、洗濯盆和盆座。你要使这一切圣洁，成为至圣之物。凡碰到它们的都会圣洁。“你也要用这种油来膏亚伦父子们，使他们分别出来，做圣洁的祭司事奉我。你要把我的话告诉以色列百姓，‘我要世世代代以这油为圣膏油。不要把这膏油用在普通人身上，也不可仿制，因为这是圣膏油，你们也要视之为圣物。任何人若仿制或用这油抹祭司以外的人，要将他从民中铲除。’”耶和华对摩西说：“要取各种芬芳的香料，就是苏合香、香螺、白松香和纯乳香，分量相同，用调制香料的方法调制，加上盐，做成纯净圣洁的香。你们要把一些香捣成极细的粉末，放在会幕内的约柜前面，就是我与你会面的地方，你们要视这香为至圣之物。你们不可用同样的配方为自己做香，要视它为耶和华的圣物。
