于是乌西雅十分忿怒，手里拿着香炉正要烧香，他向众祭司发怒的时候，就在耶和华的殿里香坛旁边众祭司的面前，他的额上忽然长出了大痲风。

打了很多棍，就把他们放在监牢里，吩咐狱吏严密看守。狱吏领了命令，就把他们押入内监，两脚拴了木狗。

原来希律为了他弟弟腓力的妻子希罗底的缘故，拘捕了约翰，把他捆绑，关在监里，因为约翰多次告诉他：“你占有她是不合理的。”

就殴打耶利米先知，把他枷锁在耶和华殿里，朝向便雅悯的上门内。

又把那城里的人民带出去，使他们用锯子、铁耙、铁斧作工，或使他们在砖窑服役。大卫对待亚扪各城的居民都是这样。后来，大卫和众人都回耶路撒冷去了。

愿义人击打我，这是出于慈爱；愿他责备我，这是膏我头的膏油，我的头不会拒绝。我仍要为恶人的恶行祷告。

大卫数点了人民以后，良心一直不安，于是对耶和华说：“我作了这事，犯了大罪。耶和华啊！现在求你除去你仆人的罪孽，因为我作了非常糊涂的事！”大卫早晨起来；耶和华的话临到迦得先知，就是大卫的先见，说：“你去告诉大卫说：‘耶和华这样说：我给你三个选择，你要选择一个，我好向你施行。’”于是迦得来见大卫，问他说：“你要国中三年（按照《马索拉文本》，“三年”作“七年”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译；参代上21:12）的饥荒呢？或是要在你敌人面前逃跑，被追赶三个月呢？或是要国中有三天的瘟疫呢？现在你要想想，决定我该用什么话回覆那差我来的。”大卫对迦得说：“我非常为难，我们情愿落在耶和华的手里，因为他有丰盛的怜悯。不要让我落在人的手里。”

我必把这杯放在那些苦待你的人的手里；他们曾对你说：‘你屈身俯伏，让我们走过去吧！’你就以你的背作陆地，作街道，任由他们踏过去。”

于是大卫差派使者去把她接来。她来到大卫那里，大卫就与她同房。那时她的月经刚得洁净。事后，她就回家去了。

纠正好讥笑人的，必自招耻辱；责备恶人的，必遭受羞辱。你不要责备好讥笑人的，免得他恨你；要责备智慧人，他必爱你。教导智慧人，他就越有智慧；指教义人，他就增加学问。
