羅波安住在耶路撒冷；他在猶大修造了城邑做堡障。他修造了伯利恆、以坦、提哥亞、伯夙、稜哥、亞杜蘭、迦特、瑪利沙、西弗、亞多萊音、拉吉、亞西加、瑣拉、亞雅崙、希伯崙：這些都是猶大和便雅憫的堡障城。羅波安又將這些堡障防守得很堅固，安置將官在裏面，貯藏着糧食、油、酒；又在各城各邑設備了大盾牌和槍，將城防守得極其堅固。這樣、猶大和便雅憫就都隸屬於他。

於是地方太平四十年。基納斯的兒子俄陀聶死了。

所羅門就把戶蘭給了他、的那些城重新建造起來，使以色列人住在那裏。所羅門往哈馬瑣巴去，戰勝了那地方。所羅門建造了曠野的達莫，和他在哈馬所建造的一切貯藏城。他又建造了上伯和崙跟下伯和崙、作為堡障城，都有牆，有門、有閂；又建造了巴拉和所羅門所有的一切貯藏城、一切屯車城、駿馬城、和所羅門一切所愛好的建築物、就是他在耶路撒冷、利巴嫩、和他統治的各地所愛建造的。

永恆主使以色列人得享平靜、沒有受四圍任何仇敵的騷擾。過了許多年日，約書亞也老邁，上了年紀；

他使戰事止息、到地儘邊；他將弓折毁，將矛砍斷，把戰車焚燒於火中。

就在那一天、摩押就在以色列人手下被制伏了。於是地方太平八十年。

『永恆主啊，願你的仇敵都這樣滅亡；願愛永恆主的人就像日頭昇現，在發光輝。』這樣，地方就太平四十年。

現在永恆主我的上帝既使我得享平靜，周圍四方沒有騷擾，沒有敵擋的人，沒有壞的遭遇。
