在约旦河西，亚摩利人的众王和靠近海边迦南人的众王，听见耶和华怎样使约旦河的水在以色列人面前干了，直到他们都过河去，他们都心里惊怕，因以色列人的缘故，勇气全失。

对他们二人说：“我知道耶和华已经把这地赐给你们了，你们使我们十分害怕，这地所有的居民都在你们面前胆战心惊。因为我们听见你们从埃及出来的时候，耶和华怎样使红海的水在你们面前干了，以及你们怎样对待约旦河东亚摩利人的两个王西宏和噩，把他们完全消灭。我们听见了，就都心里惊怕；没有一人再有勇气在你们面前站立；因为耶和华你们的神是天上、也是地上的神。

“带领大军的君王都逃跑了，逃跑了；住在家中的妇女分得了战利品。

于是在营房里，在田野中和在众人中间，都有恐慌，驻军和突击队也都恐惧，地也震动，这是从神而来的恐惧。

因为主使亚兰人的军队听见战车、战马和大军的声音；他们就彼此说：“看哪，一定是以色列王雇用了赫人的众王和埃及人的众王来攻击我们。”于是他们在黄昏的时候起来逃跑，他们丢下他们的帐幕，他们的马匹和他们的驴子；军营仍在那里，他们却只顾逃命去了。这些患痲风病的人来到军营的外边，他们进入其中一座帐幕，又吃又喝，并且从那里取去金子、银子和衣服，然后离去，把东西收藏起来。他们再回去，进入另一座帐幕，从那里拿走财物，去收藏起来。

他们的磐石必因惊慌而挪去，他们的领袖必因见到以色列的旗帜而惊惶。这是那有火在锡安，有炉在耶路撒冷的耶和华说的。

就在今天，我要使天下万民听见你的消息都惊慌惧怕，而且因你的缘故发抖疼痛。’

众民就出去，抢掠亚兰人的军营。于是三公斤面粉卖十一克银子，六公斤大麦也卖十一克银子，好像耶和华所说的。

恐怖之声常在他的耳中，太平的时候，强盗就来袭击他。

他们又对约书亚说：“耶和华真的把那地全交在我们手里了；那地所有的居民都在我们面前胆战心惊。”

约沙法和他的人民就来掠夺敌人的财物，在尸首中见许多财物、衣服和珍宝。他们剥脱下来据为己有的，多得不能携带；因为掠物甚多，所以掠夺了三天。

现在你的绳索虽然松开，不能绑紧桅杆，也不能扬起帆来，但到那时，许多掳物必被你们瓜分，甚至瘸腿的也能把掠物掠去。

耶和华的灵大大感动参孙，参孙就下到亚实基伦，击杀了他们中间三十个人，拿了剥下来的衣服，把三十套衣服给了那些把谜语的意思说出来的人；参孙怒气冲冲地上自己的父家去了。

但靠着爱我们的那一位，我们在这一切事上就得胜有余了。
