「我知道耶和華已經把這地方賜給你們，我們十分害怕。這裡所有的居民都嚇得膽戰心驚。因為你們離開埃及過紅海的時候，耶和華怎樣使紅海在你們面前成為乾地，你們怎樣對付約旦河東的兩個亞摩利王西宏和噩，怎樣把他們徹底消滅，我們都聽說了。我們聽了這些事，感到心驚膽戰、勇氣盡失。你們的上帝耶和華是天地萬物的上帝。

「眾王和他們的軍隊逃走了，逃走了！」以色列的婦女都在分戰利品。

營房、田野的所有非利士人，包括駐軍和那些突擊隊都非常恐慌。大地震動，眾人恐懼萬分。

原來，主使亞蘭人聽見大隊人馬和戰車的聲音。他們以為以色列王雇用了赫人的諸王和埃及人的諸王來攻營，便在傍晚時分撇下帳篷、馬和驢，棄營而逃。那幾個痲瘋病人到了營地，走進一個帳篷，又吃又喝，把那裡的金銀和衣服拿走收藏起來，再回來進入另一個帳篷，把財物拿走收藏起來。

他們的堡壘必因恐懼而倒塌，他們的將領一看見戰旗必驚慌失措。」這是耶和華說的，祂的火在錫安，祂的火爐在耶路撒冷。

從今天起，我要使天下萬民在你面前驚恐萬狀，一聽到你的名字就嚇得發抖。』

於是，民眾出城搶掠亞蘭人的營地。那時，三公斤細麵粉只賣十一克銀子，六公斤大麥也只賣十一克銀子，正如耶和華所言。

他耳邊響著恐怖的聲音，他安逸時遭強盜襲擊。

又說：「耶和華確實將那整片土地交給我們了，那裡的居民聽到我們的消息，都嚇得膽戰心驚。」

約沙法和他的百姓前去拾財物，發現屍體中有許多財物、衣服和貴重物品，多得拿不完。他們拾了三天才拾完。

敵人的帆索鬆開，桅杆晃動不穩，風帆無法揚起。那時，大量的戰利品將被瓜分，甚至瘸子都分得一份。

耶和華的靈降在參孫身上，他便去亞實基倫殺了三十個人，擄走他們的衣服，交給猜中謎語的那些人，然後怒氣沖沖地回父親家去了。

然而，靠著愛我們的主，我們在這一切事上已經得勝有餘了。
