Some worthless scoundrels gathered around him and opposed Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young and indecisive and not strong enough to resist them.

Some worthless and evil men gathered around him. They opposed Solomon’s son Rehoboam. At that time Rehoboam was young. He couldn’t make up his mind. He wasn’t strong enough to stand up against those men.

and certain worthless scoundrels gathered about him and defied Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and irresolute and could not withstand them.

Then a whole gang of scoundrels joined him, defying Solomon’s son Rehoboam when he was young and inexperienced and could not stand up to them.

昔耶和華在以色列支派中、曾簡耶路撒冷、為籲厥名之所、羅波暗在彼、鞏固其國、時年四十有一、即位於耶路撒冷、歷十七年、亞捫婦拿馬其母也。

巴力庇立殿故有金、遂取七十予之、使用此以結納遊蕩之徒、為其僕從。

以色列族眾知王不聽、則告王曰、我與耶西之子大闢何與、我族當各歸故土、大闢之家爾自治之。於是以色列族各歸故土。

兄弟乎、論智勿效赤子、論惡可效赤子、論智當效成人、

其時匪類二人進、而坐於前、以作證、訟拿泊曰、拿泊詛上帝與王。乃解之至邑外、石擊斃命。

不與惡人居、不與妄人交兮、

蓋有人越準繩、虛誕欺詐、而宗割禮為尤甚、

羅波暗至耶路撒冷、則招猶大全家、便雅憫支派、計簡練之卒、十有八萬、欲與以色列族戰、以復國祚。上帝命其僕示罵雅曰、當告猶大王所羅門子羅波暗、及猶大便雅憫地所居之以色列族、曰、耶和華云、此我所使、爾毋往與以色列族戰、各歸故土。民從耶和華命而歸、不攻耶羅破暗。

凡困迫者、逋負者、不快於心者、群歸之、約四百人、大闢為其長。

事耕耘者、得果腹、從虛誕者、缺智慧。

器小者為王、則群臣以飲食為先、而邦必危矣。

使器少年稚者為君、以治斯民。

勤耕耘者、得果腹、從虛誕者、致貧乏。

令匪類二人作證、曰、爾詛上帝與王。遂曳之出、擊之以石、而斃其命。

不信之猶太人妒焉、招納市井匪類、在城群集為亂、突至耶孫室、欲取保羅西拉出以示民、

愚蠢側陋之子、無俾居於樂土。

爾學之久矣、當自為師、但今需我復教爾上帝道小學之始、譬之孩提、猶需乳哺、無事肉食、

耶弗大避兄弟、居於奪地、游蕩之徒歸之、為其僕從。
