Some worthless scoundrels gathered around him and opposed Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young and indecisive and not strong enough to resist them.

Some worthless and evil men gathered around him. They opposed Solomon’s son Rehoboam. At that time Rehoboam was young. He couldn’t make up his mind. He wasn’t strong enough to stand up against those men.

and certain worthless scoundrels gathered about him and defied Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and irresolute and could not withstand them.

Then a whole gang of scoundrels joined him, defying Solomon’s son Rehoboam when he was young and inexperienced and could not stand up to them.

羅波安王自強、為王於耶路撒冷、其即位時、年四十有一、在耶路撒冷、即耶和華於以色列諸支派中、所簡寄名之邑、為王歷十七年、其母名拿瑪、亞捫人也、

由巴力比利土廟、取銀七十予之、亞比米勒用以募游蕩無賴之徒從之、

以色列眾見王不聽、則謂王曰、我與大衛何與、我於耶西子無業、以色列人歟、爾其歸幕、大衛家歟、爾其自顧、以色列人遂歸其幕、

若聞一邑之中、有匪類出、誘居民曰、我其往事他神、乃爾所未識者、

兄弟乎、於心志勿為孩提、於惡慝當為赤子、於心志則為成人、

有匪徒二人入、對之而坐、於眾前作證、訟拿伯曰、拿伯詛上帝與王、乃曳之出邑、以石擊斃之、

未與虛妄者同坐、不與詐偽者同羣兮、

蓋多有不順之人、言虛誕、行欺詐、奉割禮者尤甚、

羅波安至耶路撒冷、集猶大與便雅憫家、所簡戰士、十有八萬、欲與以色列戰、俾國復歸於己、耶和華諭上帝僕示瑪雅曰、告猶大王、所羅門子羅波安、及猶大便雅憫地之以色列人曰、耶和華云、勿往與昆弟戰、其各歸家、蓋是事由於我也、眾從耶和華言而歸、不往攻耶羅波安、

凡困迫者、逋負者、不得志者、咸集歸之、約四百人、大衛為其長、○

力其田者足食、從虛浮者無知、

王為幼稚、牧伯晨宴、斯邦禍矣、

我將使童穉為其長、孩提主其治、

力其田者必足食、從虛浮者必極貧、

置二匪徒於其前、對之證曰、爾詛上帝及王、即曳之出、以石擊斃之、

但猶太人妒之、招納市井匪類、聚集羣眾、使闔邑鼓噪、突至耶孫室、欲取二人以予民、

原為愚陋之裔、爰被撻逐、離其故土、

蓋以時而論、爾當為師、然尚需人以上帝聖詔小學之始教導爾曹、且為需乳不需粒食者、

耶弗他避兄弟、居陀伯地、游蕩之徒歸而從之、○
