Some worthless scoundrels gathered around him and opposed Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young and indecisive and not strong enough to resist them.

Some worthless and evil men gathered around him. They opposed Solomon’s son Rehoboam. At that time Rehoboam was young. He couldn’t make up his mind. He wasn’t strong enough to stand up against those men.

Then a whole gang of scoundrels joined him, defying Solomon’s son Rehoboam when he was young and inexperienced and could not stand up to them.

羅波安王在耶路撒冷漸漸強盛，繼續作王。羅波安登基的時候是四十一歲；他在耶和華從以色列眾支派中選出來，立下他名的耶路撒冷城中，作王十七年。羅波安的母親名叫拿瑪，是亞捫人。

他們就從巴力．比利土的廟裡，取了八百克銀子給亞比米勒，亞比米勒用這些銀子雇了一些無賴流氓，那些人就跟隨了他。

以色列人見王不聽他們的要求，就對王說：“我們和大衛有甚麼關係呢？我們和耶西的兒子並不相干。以色列人哪，各回各家去吧，大衛啊，現在只顧你自己的家吧。”於是全體以色列人都回自己的家去了。

有些匪徒從你中間出來，把本城的居民引離，說：‘我們去事奉別的神吧。’那些神是你們素來不認識的；

弟兄們，你們在思想上不要作小孩子，卻要在惡事上作嬰孩，在思想上作成年人。

然後兩個匪徒來坐在拿伯的對面。這兩個流氓當眾作見證控告拿伯，說：“拿伯曾經咒詛神和君王。”眾人就把拿伯拉出城外，用石頭打他，把他打死了。

我決不與奸詐的人同坐，也不和虛偽的人來往。

因為有許多不受約束、好講空話和欺騙人的，尤其是那些守割禮的人，

羅波安回到耶路撒冷，就召集猶大家和便雅憫家，共十八萬人，都是精兵，要和以色列人交戰，好把王國奪回，再歸自己。但耶和華的話臨到神人示瑪雅，說：“你要告訴所羅門的兒子、猶大王羅波安，以及所有住在猶大和便雅憫的以色列人，說：‘耶和華這樣說：你們不可上去，也不可和你們的兄弟交戰。你們各自回家去吧，因為這事是出於我。’”於是他們聽從耶和華的話，都回家，不去攻打耶羅波安。

凡是受窘迫的、負債的、心裡不滿的，都聚集到大衛那裡，他就成了他們的領袖。那時，跟從他的約有四百人。

耕種自己田地的，也有充足的糧食；追求虛幻的，實在無知。

邦國啊，如果你的王是個孩童，而你的大臣又一早吃喝宴樂，你就有禍了。

我必使孩童作他們的領袖，使嬰孩管轄他們。

但猶太人嫉妒起來，招聚了一些市井流氓，糾合成群，騷動全城，衝進了耶孫的家，搜索保羅和西拉，要把他們交給民眾。

他們都是愚頑人、下流人的子孫，被人鞭打逐出境外。

到這個時候，你們應該已經作老師了；可是你們還需要有人再把神道理的初步教導你們。你們成了只能吃奶而不能吃乾糧的人！

耶弗他就從他的兄弟面前逃跑，住在陀伯地；有些無賴聚集到他那裡，與他一起出入。
