Don’t you know that the Lord, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

The Lord is the God of Israel. Don’t you know that he has placed David and his sons after him on Israel’s throne forever? The Lord made a covenant of salt with David. The salt means the covenant will last for all time to come.

Ought you not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the kingship over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?

Don’t you realize that the Lord, the God of Israel, made a lasting covenant with David, giving him and his descendants the throne of Israel forever?

Do you not know that the Lord God of Israel gave the rule over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?

Should you not know that the Lord God of Israel gave the dominion over Israel to David forever, to him and his sons, by a covenant of salt?

Ought ye not to know that Jehovah, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

You are to season each of your grain offerings with salt; you must not omit from your grain offering the salt of the covenant with your God. You are to present salt with each of your offerings.

“ I give to you and to your sons and daughters all the holy contributions that the Israelites present to the LORD as a permanent statute. It is a permanent covenant of salt before the LORD for you as well as your offspring.”

When your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.He is the one who will build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and blows from mortals.But my faithful love will never leave him as it did when I removed it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.Your house and kingdom will endure before me forever, and your throne will be established forever.’”

You will be driven away from people to live with the wild animals. You will feed on grass like cattle and be drenched with dew from the sky for seven periods of time, until you acknowledge that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms, and he gives them to anyone he wants.As for the command to leave the tree’s stump with its roots, your kingdom will be restored to you as soon as you acknowledge that Heaven rules.Therefore, may my advice seem good to you my king. Separate yourself from your sins by doing what is right, and from your injustices by showing mercy to the needy. Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar.At the end of twelve months, as he was walking on the roof of the royal palace in Babylon,the king exclaimed,“ Is this not Babylon the Great that I have built to be a royal residence by my vast power and for my majestic glory?”While the words were still in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven:“ King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared that the kingdom has departed from you.You will be driven away from people to live with the wild animals, and you will feed on grass like cattle for seven periods of time, until you acknowledge that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms, and he gives them to anyone he wants.”

For everyone will be salted with fire.Salt is good, but if the salt should lose its flavor, how can you season it? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

You once spoke in a vision to your faithful ones and said,“ I have granted help to a warrior; I have exalted one chosen from the people.I have found David my servant; I have anointed him with my sacred oil.My hand will always be with him, and my arm will strengthen him.The enemy will not oppress him; the wicked will not afflict him.I will crush his foes before him and strike those who hate him.My faithfulness and love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted.I will extend his power to the sea and his right hand to the rivers.He will call to me,‘ You are my Father, my God, the rock of my salvation.’I will also make him my firstborn, greatest of the kings of the earth.I will always preserve my faithful love for him, and my covenant with him will endure.I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as heaven lasts.If his sons abandon my instruction and do not live by my ordinances,if they dishonor my statutes and do not keep my commands,then I will call their rebellion to account with the rod, their iniquity with blows.But I will not withdraw my faithful love from him or betray my faithfulness.I will not violate my covenant or change what my lips have said.Once and for all I have sworn an oath by my holiness; I will not lie to David.His offspring will continue forever, his throne like the sun before me,like the moon, established forever, a faithful witness in the sky.” Selah

Then I said,“ What you are doing isn’t right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God and not invite the reproach of our foreign enemies?

The LORD has fulfilled what he promised. I have taken the place of my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the temple for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

Because they hated knowledge, didn’t choose to fear the LORD,

Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end.”

So Jesse sent for him. He had beautiful eyes and a healthy, handsome appearance. Then the LORD said,“ Anoint him, for he is the one.”

“ Yet the LORD God of Israel chose me out of all my father’s family to be king over Israel forever. For he chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah, my father’s family, and from my father’s sons, he was pleased to make me king over all Israel.And out of all my sons— for the LORD has given me many sons— he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the LORD’s kingdom over Israel.

then also my covenant with my servant David may be broken. If that could happen, then he would not have a son reigning on his throne and the Levitical priests would not be my ministers.Even as the stars of heaven cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so too I will make innumerable the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister to me.”

then I might also reject the descendants of Jacob and of my servant David. That is, I would not take rulers from his descendants to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But in fact, I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.”

I will appoint him over my house and my kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.’”

The LORD said to Samuel,“ How long are you going to mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem because I have selected for myself a king from his sons.”

You are to present them before the LORD; the priests will throw salt on them and sacrifice them as a burnt offering to the LORD.

“ By my great strength and outstretched arm, I made the earth, and the people, and animals on the face of the earth. I give it to anyone I please.So now I have placed all these lands under the authority of my servant Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. I have even given him the wild animals to serve him.All nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson until the time for his own land comes, and then many nations and great kings will enslave him.

When your time comes to be with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who is one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.

Your Majesty, the Most High God gave sovereignty, greatness, glory, and majesty to your predecessor Nebuchadnezzar.

Then the LORD God of Israel handed over Sihon and all his troops to Israel, and they defeated them. So Israel took possession of the entire land of the Amorites who lived in that country.They took possession of all the territory of the Amorites from the Arnon to the Jabbok and from the wilderness to the Jordan.“ The LORD God of Israel has now driven out the Amorites before his people Israel, and will you now force us out?Isn’t it true that you can have whatever your god Chemosh conquers for you, and we can have whatever the LORD our God conquers for us?
