亚撒呼求耶和华—他的神说：“耶和华啊，在强弱之间，惟有你能帮助。耶和华—我们的神啊，求你帮助我们，因为我们仰赖你，奉你的名来抵挡这大军。耶和华啊，你是我们的神，不要让人胜过你。”

艾城的人回头，往后一看，看哪，城中烟气冲天，他们向这边或那边都无处可逃。往旷野逃跑的百姓就转身攻击那些追赶他们的人。

那些战车长看见约沙法就说：“这一定是以色列王！”他们转过去与他交战。约沙法一呼喊，耶和华就帮助他，神使他们转离他。

以色列众人都起来，在巴力‧他玛摆阵，以色列的伏兵从马利‧迦巴埋伏的地方冲上前去。全以色列中的一万精兵来到基比亚前，战争十分激烈。便雅悯人却不知道灾祸临近了。耶和华在以色列面前击打便雅悯。那日，以色列人歼灭二万五千一百个便雅悯人，都是拿刀的士兵。便雅悯人看到自己战败了。以色列人因为信任在基比亚前所设的伏兵，就在便雅悯人面前假装撤退。伏兵迅速闯进基比亚；他们继续前进，用刀杀死全城的人。以色列人预先与伏兵约定在城内放火，以上腾的烟为信号。以色列人从阵上撤退，便雅悯人动手杀死以色列人，约有三十个，就说：“他们仍像以前一样败在我们面前。”当烟如柱一般从城中上腾的时候，便雅悯人回头，看哪，全城已经浓烟冲天了。以色列人又转身回来，便雅悯人就很惊惶，因为看见灾祸临到自己了。他们在以色列人面前转身往旷野逃跑，战况对他们不利，那从城里出来的也去夹攻，杀灭他们。以色列人围攻便雅悯人，追赶他们，在他们歇脚之处，直到向日出方向的基比亚的对面，践踏他们。

并要在患难之日求告我，我必搭救你，你也要荣耀我。”

亚扪人出来，在城门前摆阵；琐巴与利合的亚兰人、陀伯人，以及玛迦人另外在郊野摆阵。约押看见战阵对着他前后摆列，就把从以色列所有精兵中挑选出来的，摆阵迎战亚兰人。他把其余的兵交在他兄弟亚比筛手里，亚比筛就摆阵迎战亚扪人。约押对亚比筛说：“亚兰人若强过我，你就来帮助我；亚扪人若强过你，我就去帮助你。你要刚强，我们要为自己的百姓，为我们神的城镇奋勇。愿耶和华照他所看为好的去做！”于是，约押和跟随他的士兵前进攻打亚兰人；亚兰人在他面前逃跑。亚扪人见亚兰人逃跑，他们也在亚比筛面前逃跑进城。约押就离开亚扪人，回耶路撒冷去了。

你必不怕黑夜的惊骇，或是白日飞的箭，

法老逼近的时候，以色列人举目，看哪，埃及人追来了，就非常惧怕，以色列人向耶和华哀求。
