When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah:“ Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.

The Lord saw they had made themselves humble. So he gave a message to Shemaiah. The Lord said,“ They have made themselves humble in my sight. So I will not destroy them. Instead, I will soon save them. Even though I am very angry with Jerusalem, I will not use Shishak to destroy them.

When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah:“ They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

When the Lord saw their change of heart, he gave this message to Shemaiah:“ Since the people have humbled themselves, I will not completely destroy them and will soon give them some relief. I will not use Shishak to pour out my anger on Jerusalem.

願傾爾怒於不識爾之邦、不籲爾名之國兮、

耶和華回意曰、亦免此災、耶和華言之矣、○又示我一事、爰有牆垣、依準繩所築者、主執準繩、立於其側、耶和華諭我曰、阿摩司歟、爾所見維何、對曰、準繩、曰、我將置準繩於我民以色列中、不復赦宥之、

惟耶和華因與亞伯拉罕以撒雅各所立之約、施恩矜恤之、眷顧之、尚不滅之、不逐之於其前、

我將起而歸父、謂之曰、父歟、我獲罪於天及爾、今而後、不堪稱為爾子矣、視我如傭人之一、可也、遂起而歸父、相去尚遠、父見而憫之、趨抱其頸而吻接之、子曰、父歟、我獲罪於天及爾、今而後、不堪稱為爾子矣、

汝其往哉、為我與以色列及猶大之遺民、以此書之言、詢於耶和華、因我列祖不守耶和華之言、不遵此書所載而行、故耶和華向我、洩忿甚烈、

爾干罪於爾上帝耶和華、奔馳諸路、在諸綠樹之下、崇事他神、不從我言、當自認爾罪、耶和華言之矣、

約哈斯懇求耶和華、耶和華垂聽、因見以色列人受亞蘭王之虐也、耶和華賜救者於以色列人、俾脫亞蘭人手、居於其幕如故、然不離棄耶羅波安家之罪、即陷以色列人之罪、從之而行、留木偶於撒瑪利亞、亞蘭王殲滅約哈斯之民、蹂躪之如禾場之土、惟遺騎兵五十、戰車十乘、步卒一萬、

故主耶和華曰、我必傾我忿怒於斯土、在其人民牲畜、田木土產、如火之烈、焚燬不熄、○

上帝乃慈、赦宥其罪、不加殄滅、屢回其怒、不盡洩其忿兮、

我拂逆之、散之敵國、緣其不潔之心、自卑服罪、我則追憶我與亞伯拉罕以撒雅各所立之約、而俯念斯土、

故彼傾其烈怒、俾遇劇戰、火灼四周、而彼不知、焚及其身、不以為意、

則必飲上帝恚怒之酒、純然無雜、酌於恚怒之杯者、又將於聖使及羔前、受火與硫之痛苦、
