Now sons were born to David in Hebron. His firstborn was Amnon, born to Ahinoam the Jezreelite.His second son was Kileab, born to Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite. His third son was Absalom, the son of Maacah daughter of King Talmai of Geshur.His fourth son was Adonijah, the son of Haggith. His fifth son was Shephatiah, the son of Abitail.His sixth son was Ithream, born to David’s wife Eglah. These sons were all born to David in Hebron.

There may be sixty queens, and eighty concubines, and young women without number.But she is unique! My dove, my perfect one! She is the special daughter of her mother, she is the favorite of the one who bore her. The maidens saw her and complimented her; the queens and concubines praised her:

David married more concubines and wives from Jerusalem after he arrived from Hebron. Even more sons and daughters were born to David.

These were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: The firstborn was Amnon, whose mother was Ahinoam from Jezreel; the second was Daniel, whose mother was Abigail from Carmel;the third was Absalom whose mother was Maacah, daughter of King Talmai of Geshur; the fourth was Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith;the fifth was Shephatiah, whose mother was Abital; the sixth was Ithream, whose mother was Eglah.These six were born to David in Hebron, where he ruled for seven years and six months. He ruled thirty-three years in Jerusalem.These were the sons born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon– the mother of these four was Bathsheba the daughter of Ammiel.The other nine were Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.These were all the sons of David, not counting the sons of his concubines. Tamar was their sister.

He wisely placed some of his many sons throughout the regions of Judah and Benjamin in the various fortified cities. He supplied them with abundant provisions and acquired many wives for them.

Gideon fathered seventy sons through his many wives.
