这事以后，耶罗波安没有改邪归正，他任命各种人做丘坛的祭司，不管谁想做祭司，他都封立他们。

他们祭拜的不是真神，而是鬼魔，是他们素不认识的新神明，是他们祖先所不敬畏的。

耶罗波安又在高岗上修建神庙，任命各样的人做祭司，他们并非利未人。

亚伦用这些金耳环铸造了一头牛犊。他们说：“以色列人啊，这就是把你们带出埃及的神明。”亚伦见状，便在牛犊前面筑了一座坛，然后宣告说：“明天是耶和华定的节期。”第二天清晨，百姓都上前来献燔祭和平安祭，献完祭后就坐下吃喝，起来狂欢。耶和华对摩西说：“你快下山吧，你的百姓，就是你从埃及领出来的那些人已经败坏了。他们这么快就偏离了我吩咐他们走的道路，为自己造了一头牛犊来叩拜献祭，说，‘以色列人啊，这就是把你们带出埃及的神明。’”

摩西回到耶和华那里，说：“唉，百姓犯了大罪，用金子为自己造了神像。

如今他们作恶日甚，凭借自己的聪明用银子铸造神像，但这不过是匠人之作。人们议论他们说：“那些献祭的人竟亲吻牛犊偶像！”

圣灵明确地说，日后必有人离弃真道，去追随那些迷惑人的邪灵和鬼魔的学说。

他们在何烈山铸造牛犊，祭拜偶像，他们把荣耀的上帝变成了吃草之牛的铸像。

其实它们都是鬼魔的灵，能行奇迹。它们到普天下召集各王，预备在全能上帝的大日子来临时聚集争战。

我鄙弃撒玛利亚人所拜的牛犊，我要向他们发怒，他们到什么时候才能洁身自守呢？这牛犊是以色列的工匠造的，并不是神，必被砸得粉碎。

反而比前人行恶更甚，为自己设立其他神明，铸造神像，惹我发怒，把我抛在脑后。

当然不是，我的意思是那些异教徒所献的祭是祭鬼魔的，而不是献给上帝的。我不愿意你们与鬼魔有任何关系。你们不能又喝主的杯又喝鬼魔的杯，不能又吃主的圣餐又吃祭鬼魔的食物。
