“ Your father made our yoke heavy. Now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke on us, and we will serve you.”

“ Your father was a hard master,” they said.“ Lighten the harsh labor demands and heavy taxes that your father imposed on us. Then we will be your loyal subjects.”

所罗门有七万扛抬的，八万在山上凿石头的。

他们把难挑的重担捆起来，搁在人的肩上，但自己一个指头也不肯动。

过了许多年，埃及王死了。以色列人因做苦工，就叹息哀求；他们因苦工所发出的哀声达于上帝。

“你父亲使我们负重轭，现在求你减轻你父亲所加给我们的苦工和重轭，我们就服事你。”

埃及人严厉地强迫以色列人做工，使他们因苦工而生活痛苦；无论是和泥，是做砖，是做田间各样的工，一切的工埃及人都严厉地对待他们。

我向我的百姓发怒，使我的产业受凌辱，将他们交在你手中；然而你毫不怜悯他们，连老年人你也加极重的轭。

我们遵守上帝的命令，这就是爱他了，而且他的命令并不是难守的。

我心里柔和谦卑，你们当负我的轭，向我学习；这样，你们的心灵就必得安息。因为我的轭是容易的，我的担子是轻省的。”

他说：“管辖你们的王必用这样的方式：他必派你们的儿子为他驾车，赶马，在他的战车前奔跑。他要为自己立千夫长、五十夫长；耕种他的田地，收割他的庄稼；打造他的兵器和车上的器械。他必叫你们的女儿为他制造香膏，作厨师与烤饼的，也必取你们最好的田地、葡萄园、橄榄园，赐给他的臣仆。你们的粮食和葡萄园所出产的，他必征收十分之一给他的官员和臣仆，又必叫你们的仆人婢女，健壮的青年和你们的驴为他做工。你们的羊群，他必征收十分之一，你们自己也必作他的仆人。那日，你们必因自己所选的王哀求耶和华，但那日耶和华却不应允你们。”

犹大人和以色列人如同海边的沙那样多，都吃喝快乐。

惟有以色列人，所罗门不使他们作奴仆，而是作他的战士、臣仆、官长、军官、战车长、骑兵长。

所罗门在世的日子，从但到别是巴，犹大和以色列各人都在自己的葡萄树下和无花果树下安然居住。
