“ Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but now lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”

“ Your father put a heavy load on our shoulders. But now make our hard work easier. Make the heavy load on us lighter. Then we’ll serve you.”

“ Your father made our yoke heavy. Now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke on us, and we will serve you.”

“ Your father was a hard master,” they said.“ Lighten the harsh labor demands and heavy taxes that your father imposed on us. Then we will be your loyal subjects.”

所羅門有七萬扛抬的，八萬在山上鑿石頭的。

他們把難挑的重擔捆起來，擱在人的肩上，但自己一個指頭也不肯動。

過了許多年，埃及王死了。以色列人因做苦工，就嘆息哀求；他們因苦工所發出的哀聲達於神。

「你父親使我們負重軛，現在求你減輕你父親所加給我們的苦工和重軛，我們就服事你。」

埃及人嚴厲地強迫以色列人做工，使他們因苦工而生活痛苦；無論是和泥，是做磚，是做田間各樣的工，一切的工埃及人都嚴厲地對待他們。

我向我的百姓發怒，使我的產業受凌辱，將他們交在你手中；然而你毫不憐憫他們，連老年人你也加極重的軛。

我們遵守神的命令，這就是愛他了，而且他的命令並不是難守的。

我心裏柔和謙卑，你們當負我的軛，向我學習；這樣，你們的心靈就必得安息。因為我的軛是容易的，我的擔子是輕省的。」

他說：「管轄你們的王必用這樣的方式：他必派你們的兒子為他駕車，趕馬，在他的戰車前奔跑。他要為自己立千夫長、五十夫長；耕種他的田地，收割他的莊稼；打造他的兵器和車上的器械。他必叫你們的女兒為他製造香膏，作廚師與烤餅的，也必取你們最好的田地、葡萄園、橄欖園，賜給他的臣僕。你們的糧食和葡萄園所出產的，他必徵收十分之一給他的官員和臣僕，又必叫你們的僕人婢女，健壯的青年和你們的驢為他做工。你們的羊羣，他必徵收十分之一，你們自己也必作他的僕人。那日，你們必因自己所選的王哀求耶和華，但那日耶和華卻不應允你們。」

猶大人和以色列人如同海邊的沙那樣多，都吃喝快樂。

惟有以色列人，所羅門不使他們作奴僕，而是作他的戰士、臣僕、官長、軍官、戰車長、騎兵長。

所羅門在世的日子，從但到別是巴，猶大和以色列各人都在自己的葡萄樹下和無花果樹下安然居住。
