So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from God, to fulfill the word the Lord had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.

So the king didn’t listen to the people. That’s because God had planned it that way. What the Lord had said through Ahijah came true. Ahijah had spoken the Lord’ s message to Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. Ahijah was from Shiloh.

耶和華曰、誰願誘亞哈往基列拉末、而隕沒乎、其一曰如此、其一曰如彼、

其父母不知斯事由於耶和華、參孫尋釁、欲攻非利士人、是時非利士人轄以色列人、

以行爾手爾旨所預定將成者、

乃希實本王西宏、不容我過其境、蓋爾上帝耶和華使其心志頑梗、致付爾手、有如今日、

耶穌言竟、遂往而隱、雖多行異蹟於眾前、而人猶不之信、以應先知以賽亞之言云、主歟、我所宣傳、信之者誰、主之臂力、顯於誰乎、眾之所以不能信者、蓋以賽亞又云、

故以色列之聖者曰、爾輕視斯言、惟暴虐乖戾是恃、爾之罪愆、若高垣將傾、凸而有隙、俄頃之間、突然而圮、

士卒至、將與之同釘者、以次折其脛、及耶穌、見其已死、不折之、惟一卒以戈刺其脇、血與水即出、見者證之、其證也真、自知其言真、俾爾亦信也、斯事悉成、以應經言、其骨無一見折也、

士卒相語曰、勿裂之、鬮觀誰得、以應經所云、彼分我衣、而鬮我服、斯事士卒果行之、

耶和華云、勿往與兄弟以色列人戰、其各歸家、蓋是事由於我也、眾從耶和華言、遵命而歸、○
