My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.’”

My father put a heavy load on your shoulders. But I’ll make it even heavier. My father beat you with whips. But I’ll beat you with bigger whips.’ ”

Yes, my father laid heavy burdens on you, but I’m going to make them even heavier! My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions!’”

Now therefore, my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I, with barbed whips.’”

And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

And Pharaoh said,“ Look, the people of the land are many now, and you make them rest from their labor!”So the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,“ You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.And you shall lay on them the quota of bricks which they made before. You shall not reduce it. For they are idle; therefore they cry out, saying,‘ Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’Let more work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it, and let them not regard false words.”

They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day.”

So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor.And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage— in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor.

And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man.

“ Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?

I was angry with My people; I have profaned My inheritance, And given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy; On the elderly you laid your yoke very heavily.

Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

“ Go and tell Hananiah, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ You have broken the yokes of wood, but you have made in their place yokes of iron.”For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him. I have given him the beasts of the field also.”’”

Therefore go now and work; for no straw shall be given you, yet you shall deliver the quota of bricks.”
