My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.’”

My father put a heavy load on your shoulders. But I’ll make it even heavier. My father beat you with whips. But I’ll beat you with bigger whips.’ ”

Yes, my father laid heavy burdens on you, but I’m going to make them even heavier! My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions!’”

Now therefore, my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I, with barbed whips.’”

And now, whereas my father put a heavy yoke on you, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!’”

And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Now therefore, my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I, with barbed whips.’”

For whereas my father put a heavy yoke upon you, I will put more to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I[ will chastise you] with scorpions.

My father imposed heavy demands on you; I will make them even heavier. My father punished you with ordinary whips; I will punish you with whips that really sting your flesh.’”

Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”

Behold, I have given you authority to walk on snakes and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.

Again Pharaoh said,“ Look, the people of the land are now many, and you would have them cease from their labors!”So the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters over the people and their foremen, saying,“ You are no longer to give the people straw to make bricks as previously; have them go and gather straw for themselves.But you shall impose on them the quota of bricks which they were making before; you are not to reduce any of it. Because they are lazy, for that reason they cry out,‘ Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’Let the labor be heavier on the men, and have them work at it so that they will pay no attention to false words.”

They have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt people for five months.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Then you will cry out on that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the Lord will not answer you on that day.”

The Egyptians used violence to compel the sons of Israel to labor;and they made their lives bitter with hard labor in mortar and bricks and at all kinds of labor in the field, all their labors which they violently had them perform as slaves.

And they were not permitted to kill anyone, but to torment for five months; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a person.

Is this not the fast that I choose: To release the bonds of wickedness, To undo the ropes of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free, And break every yoke?

I was angry with My people, I profaned My heritage And handed them over to you. You did not show mercy to them, On the aged you made your yoke very heavy.

Then out of the smoke came locusts upon the earth, and power was given them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

“ Go and speak to Hananiah, saying,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ You have broken the yokes of wood, but in their place you have made yokes of iron.”For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him. And I have also given him the animals of the field.” ’ ”

So go now and work; for you will be given no straw, but you must deliver the quota of bricks.”
