For whereas my father put a heavy yoke upon you, I will put more to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I[ will chastise you] with scorpions.

My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.’”

And now, whereas my father laid on you a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.’”

Yes, my father laid heavy burdens on you, but I’m going to make them even heavier! My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions!’”

Now therefore, my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I, with barbed whips.’”

Now then, my father loaded you with a heavy yoke; yet I will add to your yoke. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions!’ ”

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now[ are] many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish[ ought] thereof: for they[ be] idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go[ and] sacrifice to our God.Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.

And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power[ was] to hurt men five months.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.

And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve,[ was] with rigour.

And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment[ was] as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

[ Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.

And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.

Go therefore now,[ and] work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
