So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,“ I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”So we can say with confidence,“ The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”

Give us today the food we need,

“ That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life— whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?“ And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?“ So don’t worry about these things, saying,‘ What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Then Jacob made this vow:“ If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing,

For the Lord your God has blessed you in everything you have done. He has watched your every step through this great wilderness. During these forty years, the Lord your God has been with you, and you have lacked nothing.”’

So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can.And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.

First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell.

So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God.For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless— like chasing the wind.

Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds,for riches don’t last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation.After the hay is harvested and the new crop appears and the mountain grasses are gathered in,your sheep will provide wool for clothing, and your goats will provide the price of a field.And you will have enough goats’ milk for yourself, your family, and your servant girls.
