But if we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that.

只要有衣有食，就当知足。

Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said,“ I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”So we can say with confidence,“ The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

Give us today our daily bread,

“ Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body than clothing?Look at the birds in the sky: They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are?And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life?Why do you worry about clothing? Think about how the flowers of the field grow; they do not work or spin.Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these!And if this is how God clothes the wild grass, which is here today and tomorrow is tossed into the fire to heat the oven, won’t he clothe you even more, you people of little faith?So then, don’t worry saying,‘ What will we eat?’ or‘ What will we drink?’ or‘ What will we wear?’For the unconverted pursue these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Then Jacob made a vow, saying,“ If God is with me and protects me on this journey I am taking and gives me food to eat and clothing to wear,

All along the way I, the LORD your God, have blessed your every effort. I have been attentive to your travels through this great wasteland. These forty years I have been with you; you have lacked for nothing.’”

I have concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they live,and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things are a gift from God.

Remove falsehood and lies far from me; do not give me poverty or riches, feed me with my allotted portion of bread,lest I become satisfied and act deceptively and say,“ Who is the LORD?” Or lest I become poor and steal and demean the name of my God.

Then he blessed Joseph and said,“ May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked– the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day,

So he humbled you by making you hungry and then feeding you with unfamiliar manna. He did this to teach you that humankind cannot live by bread alone, but also by everything that comes from the LORD’s mouth.Your clothing did not wear out nor did your feet swell all these forty years.

There is nothing better for people than to eat and drink, and to find enjoyment in their work. I also perceived that this ability to find enjoyment comes from God.For no one can eat and drink or experience joy apart from him.For to the one who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy, but to the sinner, he gives the task of amassing wealth– only to give it to the one who pleases God. This task of the wicked is futile– like chasing the wind!

Pay careful attention to the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds,for riches do not last forever, nor does a crown last from generation to generation.When the hay is removed and new grass appears, and the grass from the hills is gathered in,the lambs will be for your clothing, and the goats will be for the price of a field.And there will be enough goat’s milk for your food, for the food of your household, and for the sustenance of your servant girls.
