For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.

我儕無所攜而出世、亦無所攜而去世、明矣、

蓋吾人生不帶來、死不帶去、

For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

We didn’t bring anything into the world. We can’t take anything out of it.

for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.

After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.

for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.

“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared— whose will they be?’So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

As he came out of his mother’s womb, naked shall he go again as he came, and shall take nothing for his labor, which he may carry away in his hand.This also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go. And what profit does he have who labors for the wind?

for riches are not forever, nor does the crown endure to all generations.

The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.
