Anyone who teaches something different is arrogant and lacks understanding. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, division, slander, and evil suspicions.

Remind everyone about these things, and command them in God’s presence to stop fighting over words. Such arguments are useless, and they can ruin those who hear them.

A church leader must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall.

They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.

Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights.

They want to be known as teachers of the law of Moses, but they don’t know what they are talking about, even though they speak so confidently.

These false teachers are like unthinking animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed. They scoff at things they do not understand, and like animals, they will be destroyed.

Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don’t help people live a life of faith in God.

They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.

These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.

But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction.

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

Paul and Barnabas disagreed with them, arguing vehemently. Finally, the church decided to send Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem, accompanied by some local believers, to talk to the apostles and elders about this question.

Do not get involved in foolish discussions about spiritual pedigrees or in quarrels and fights about obedience to Jewish laws. These things are useless and a waste of time.

Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.

What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me.

Some who are poor pretend to be rich; others who are rich pretend to be poor.

But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness.

Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.

A man named Simon had been a sorcerer there for many years, amazing the people of Samaria and claiming to be someone great.

You say,‘ I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him.And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,“ God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

But since it is merely a question of words and names and your Jewish law, take care of it yourselves. I refuse to judge such matters.”

So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,

Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud,

First, I hear that there are divisions among you when you meet as a church, and to some extent I believe it.

You put up with it when someone enslaves you, takes everything you have, takes advantage of you, takes control of everything, and slaps you in the face.

But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

Now regarding your question about food that has been offered to idols. Yes, we know that“ we all have knowledge” about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much.

Do everything without complaining and arguing,

Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God.Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts,for I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin.”

A person who promises a gift but doesn’t give it is like clouds and wind that bring no rain.

Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

There is more hope for fools than for people who think they are wise.

What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing,and you say,“ Good bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”— but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.Now someone may argue,“ Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say,“ How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
