職是之故、我受諸苦而不恥、蓋識我所信者、且深信其能守我所託、以至乃日、爾當以基督耶穌中之信與愛、守正言之模範、即爾所聞於我者、昔託爾之善事、宜以居於我儕之聖神守之、○

蓋斯世之智、於上帝為愚、記有之、主令智者自中其詭計、

持守所訓之真道、俾能以正教勸誨、折服有違言者、○

我子乎、宜於基督耶穌之恩而剛健、

乃有失此而向虛誕、

有以彼古羅、斯多亞二教之哲士數人、與之爭辨、或曰、此嘐啁者、欲何言耶、或曰、似宣揚異邦鬼神者、蓋保羅宣耶穌及復起也、

當棄老媼妄誕不經之談、而自練敬虔、

惟遠愚詰、譜系、爭辯、及由律之競端、以其無益而虛妄也、

致我儕於上帝諸會、以爾為誇、緣爾在窘逐苦難中之忍與信也、

記有之、我將敗智者之智、廢哲者之哲、智者安在、士子安在、斯世之辯者安在、豈非上帝使世之智為愚乎、蓋世既依上帝之智、而自恃己智不識上帝、故上帝喜以若愚之道救諸信者、猶太人索異蹟、希利尼人求智慧、但我儕宣釘十架之基督、於猶太人則為礙、於異邦人則為愚、

蓋雅典人、及旅是邑者、不遑他務、惟於新者是言是聽、○

依乎可頌之上帝、託我有榮之福音、○

勿聽猶太之虛談、及背真理者之諸誡、

然我言智於成人、非斯世之智、亦非斯世掌權者之智、以其必敗也、

惟爾屬上帝者、宜遠此而趨於義、虔、信、愛、忍、謙、

故宜憶所受所聞如何、且守之而改悔、倘不儆醒、我將至如盜然、爾不知我何時而至也、
