當如新生之嬰、一心愛慕純粹乳汁、日漸月漬、涵養心靈、以邀救恩。

吾以身作則、吾人皆宜親自操作、以濟貧弱；主耶穌嘗曰：「施惠之福、大於受惠；」爾曹其恆念斯言。

殊不知元首為全體之綱領、全體之筋脈骨節、賴之以生、賴之以固、賴之以調暢滋長於天主懷中。

而先遣從事基督福音之天主忠僕、兄弟蒂茂德、前來慰問、以堅爾之信德、

若有人宣傳異端、而不服膺吾主耶穌基督之至言妙理、以及奉事天主之正道、

惟無論吾人之造詣如何、知行務求相契耳。

惟望吾兒、篤守所學、毋負所託、應念所師承者為何如之人、莫忘幼承慈訓、素諳經籍。凡經籍所載、莫非令人醒悟、信仰基督耶穌、以自求多福耳。全部聖經、皆天主之所默啟、有益於人、其所以覺世牖民、警惡勸善、導人於正者、亦云備矣。是在天主之徒奮發自勵、孳孳為善、以臻才德全備之地耳。

耶穌曰：『是故士子而熟諳天國之理者、譬諸一家之主、庫中取物、新舊兼備。』

吾雖明知爾之有知、且於爾所受之真道上亦卓爾有立、而猶不憚諄諄予爾以提撕者、蓋吾一日寓此塵宅、即一日有予爾激發之天職；且知吾之脫離此宅、即在目前、正如吾主耶穌之所預示也。不寧惟是、吾必欲使爾於吾去世以後、亦隨在留意此訓也。

天行一何健。六合任翱翔。普照無私曲。萬物被其光。

耶穌曰：『吾道非出於己、乃出於遣予者也。凡誠心行其聖意者、必能明辯斯道之是否出於天主、抑由予自言也。

務求己立立人、己達達人、戰戰兢兢、始終如一；如此方能自救、而救聽眾也。

吾茲遣吾之愛兒、主之忠僕、蒂茂德適爾、以便為爾面授我因基督耶穌所取之途徑；蓋我在各處教會所教者、莫非同然也。

故吾人立身處世、在在欲自表為天主之忠僕、事事堅忍；故患難也、匱乏也、困苦也、

務須篤守真諦、涵養愛德、日漸月漬、暢茂條達、庶克仰配為吾人元首之基督。在元首庇蔭之下、全身組織、緊湊圓密、百節相承、股肱各司其職、使全身平衡發展、植根於愛德之中、而蔚為大觀。

今我不揣冒昧、坦率作書者、第欲供爾等以備忘錄耳。且吾既蒙天主之恩寵、

惟吾兒素承吾之教誨、對於吾之行實、吾之志向、吾之信德、吾之刻苦、吾之愛德、

不寧惟是、使吾儕足以任新約之役者、亦惟天主而已。此約也、非本乎文字、乃本乎聖神。蓋文字乃肅殺之具、而聖神則生命之源也。

第吉各6:21「第吉各」見致歌羅森人書第四章第七節。者、我最親愛之兄弟、而主之忠僕也。爾欲悉我近狀、彼能為爾一一道之。

人當視吾輩為基督之臣僕、天主眾妙之司庫。夫世之所求於司庫者、亦惟忠信而已矣。

親愛之同道乎、予致書於爾、此已為第二通矣。予之所以一再修書、諄諄不倦者、惟欲激發爾等誠實無妄之心、俾能恆懷古聖先知之預言、及宗徒所授救主之明誡耳。

蓋時有必至、將見正道不容於世矣。滔滔者將徇其私意、好新務異各師其師；
