Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was granted to you through words of prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.

Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

Don’t fail to use the gift the Holy Spirit gave you. He gave it to you through a prophecy from God. It was given when the elders placed their hands on you.

Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you.

Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you.

Don’t neglect the gift that is in you; it was given to you through prophecy, with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.

And they brought these men before the apostles; and after praying, they laid their hands on them.

Be hospitable to one another without complaint.As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the multifaceted grace of God.Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking actual words of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Do not quench the Spirit,

Do not lay hands upon anyone too quickly and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.

Then, when they had fasted, prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

So He said,“ A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then to return.And he called ten of his own slaves and gave them ten minas, and said to them,‘ Do business with this money until I come back.’But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We do not want this man to reign over us.’When he returned after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be summoned to him so that he would learn how much they had made by the business they had done.The first slave appeared, saying,‘ Master, your mina has made ten minas more.’And he said to him,‘ Well done, good slave; since you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to have authority over ten cities.’The second one came, saying,‘ Your mina, master, has made five minas.’And he said to him also,‘ And you are to be over five cities.’And then another came, saying,‘ Master, here is your mina, which I kept tucked away in a handkerchief;for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.’He* said to him,‘ From your own lips I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am a demanding man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow?And so why did you not put my money in the bank, and when I came back, I would have collected it with interest?’And then he said to the other slaves who were present,‘ Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’And they said to him,‘ Master, he already has ten minas.’‘ I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.

Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.

“ For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them.To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey.The one who had received the five talents immediately went and did business with them, and earned five more talents.In the same way the one who had received the two talents earned two more.But he who received the one talent went away and dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.“ Now after a long time the master of those slaves* came and* settled accounts with them.The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying,‘ Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have earned five more talents.’His master said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’“ Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said,‘ Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have earned two more talents.’His master said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’“ Now the one who had received the one talent also came up and said,‘ Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed.And I was afraid, so I went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you still have what is yours.’“ But his master answered and said to him,‘ You worthless, lazy slave! Did you know that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter seed?Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest.Therefore: take the talent away from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’“ For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.And throw the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

However, since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them properly: if prophecy, in proportion to one’s faith;if service, in the act of serving; or the one who teaches, in the act of teaching;or the one who exhorts, in the work of exhortation; the one who gives, with generosity; the one who is in leadership, with diligence; the one who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

And when Paul had laid hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.
