In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.

Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit.

For there is nothing trustworthy in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.

For the overseer must be beyond reproach as God’s steward, not self willed, not quick tempered, not overindulging in wine, not a bully, not greedy for money,

from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.

shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not with greed but with eagerness;

You let your mouth loose in evil, And your tongue harnesses deceit.
