In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

所以，我希望在各個地方的男人都舉起聖潔的手禱告，不動怒、不爭論；

故我欲人無怒無爭、舉維聖之手隨在祈禱、

我欲人拱手敬虔、毋怒毋疑、隨在祈禱、

我欲人無怒無爭、隨在舉聖潔之手而祈禱、

吾望信眾隨處祈禱；祈禱時、應舉聖潔之手、更須平心靜氣。

Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.

Lift your hands toward the sanctuary, and praise the Lord.

I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.

let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

So I advise these younger widows to marry again, have children, and take care of their own homes. Then the enemy will not be able to say anything against them.

Do you really think you can steal, murder, commit adultery, lie, and burn incense to Baal and all those other new gods of yours,and then come here and stand before me in my Temple and chant,“ We are safe!”— only to go right back to all those evils again?

Jesus replied,“ Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

When we returned to the ship at the end of the week, the entire congregation, including women and children, left the city and came down to the shore with us. There we knelt, prayed,

This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.

But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another.

“ Go ahead, beg God to be merciful to you! I am not pleased with you,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies,“ and I will not accept your offerings.But my name is honored by people of other nations from morning till night. All around the world they offer sweet incense and pure offerings in honor of my name. For my name is great among the nations,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.“ Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.Then when you call, the Lord will answer.‘ Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.“ Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well watered garden, like an ever flowing spring.

He fell to his knees, shouting,“ Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.“ So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you,leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.

But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

But the time is coming— indeed it’s here now— when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish.He said,“ I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me!

Then Jesus told them,“ I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain,‘ May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.

and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.

I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain,‘ May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.”

Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them.

He told me,‘ Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been noticed by God!

“ If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Then he said,“ Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”And Jesus replied,“ I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

I wash my hands to declare my innocence. I come to your altar, O Lord,

If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

Yet I have done no wrong, and my prayer is pure.

From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help.Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer.

The sacrifice of an evil person is detestable, especially when it is offered with wrong motives.

So the Lord sent the commanders of the Assyrian armies, and they took Manasseh prisoner. They put a ring through his nose, bound him in bronze chains, and led him away to Babylon.But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the Lord his God and sincerely humbled himself before the God of his ancestors.

So God replied,“ Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies—

Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.

Yet when they were ill, I grieved for them. I denied myself by fasting for them, but my prayers returned unanswered.

The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but he delights in the prayers of the upright.
