We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.

我们知道律法原是好的，只要人用得合宜；

我们知道，只要人善用律法，律法是好的；

We know that the law is good if it is used properly.

Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully,

We know that the law is good when used correctly.

But we know that the law is good, provided one uses it legitimately.

So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.

The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is— his good, pleasing and perfect will.

To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless.Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies.I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word.I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me.How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.

Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.

“ You came down on Mount Sinai; you spoke to them from heaven. You gave them regulations and laws that are just and right, and decrees and commands that are good.

Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say,“ Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today?

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

For in my inner being I delight in God’s law;

Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold,and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.
