As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer

Timothy, stay there in Ephesus. That is what I told you to do when I went into Macedonia. I want you to command certain people not to teach things that aren’t true.

I marvel that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different“ good news”,but there isn’t another“ good news.” Only there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the Good News of Christ.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.For there are also many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,whose mouths must be stopped: men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain’s sake.

As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him,rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ.For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily,and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power.In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ,

After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia.When he had gone through those parts, and had encouraged them with many words, he came into Greece.When he had spent three months there, and a plot was made against him by Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.

Also command these things, that they may be without reproach.

While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus and found certain disciples.He said to them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him,“ No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”He said,“ Into what then were you baptized?” They said,“ Into John’s baptism.”Paul said,“ John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Jesus.”When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.They were about twelve men in all.He entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly for a period of three months, reasoning and persuading about the things concerning God’s Kingdom.But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;

Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

“ To the angel of the assembly in Ephesus write:“ He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, he who walks among the seven golden lamp stands says these things:“ I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you can’t tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and found them false.

But I have this against you, that you tolerate your woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly.

But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

Command and teach these things.

He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

If you instruct the brothers of these things, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which you have followed.
