Timothy, stay there in Ephesus. That is what I told you to do when I went into Macedonia. I want you to command certain people not to teach things that aren’t true.

After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples to himself, embraced them, and departed to go to Macedonia.Now when he had gone over that region and encouraged them with many words, he came to Greeceand stayed three months. And when the Jews plotted against him as he was about to sail to Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.

And these things command, that they may be blameless.

And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some discipleshe said to them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him,“ We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”And he said to them,“ Into what then were you baptized?” So they said,“ Into John’s baptism.”Then Paul said,“ John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.Now the men were about twelve in all.And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

“ To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,‘ These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:“ I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;

Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly.

But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

These things command and teach.

And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.
