Timothy, stay there in Ephesus. That is what I told you to do when I went into Macedonia. I want you to command certain people not to teach things that aren’t true.

I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel,which is not just another account; but there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

holding firmly the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict it.For there are many rebellious people, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of dishonest gain.

Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the elementary principles of the world, rather than in accordance with Christ.For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over every ruler and authority;and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ,

After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and when he had encouraged them and taken his leave of them, he left to go to Macedonia.When he had gone through those regions and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece.And there he spent three months, and when a plot was formed against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.

Give these instructions as well, so that they may be above reproach.

Now it happened that while Apollos was in Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples.He said to them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him,“ On the contrary, we have not even heard if there is a Holy Spirit.”And he said,“ Into what then were you baptized?” And they said,“ Into John’s baptism.”Paul said,“ John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.And when Paul had laid hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.There were about twelve men in all.And he entered the synagogue and continued speaking out boldly for three months, having discussions and persuading them about the kingdom of God.But when some were becoming hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the people, he withdrew from them and took the disciples away with him, and had discussions daily in the school of Tyrannus.This took place for two years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.

“ To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this:‘ I know your deeds and your labor and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people, and you have put those who call themselves apostles to the test, and they are not, and you found them to be false;

But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond servants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

and I trust in the Lord that I myself will also be coming shortly.

But I have a few things against you, because you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

Prescribe and teach these things.

They came to Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

In pointing out these things to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the good doctrine which you have been following.
