Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Unequal weights are an abomination to the Lord, and false scales are not good.

But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!

Whoever robs his father or his mother and says,“ That is no transgression,” is a companion to a man who destroys.

But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court?

A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.

O Lord, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth!

envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Let everyone beware of his neighbor, and put no trust in any brother, for every brother is a deceiver, and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.

And if you make a sale to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor, you shall not wrong one another.

if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm,

saying,“ When will the new moon be over, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may offer wheat for sale, that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great and deal deceitfully with false balances,that we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and sell the chaff of the wheat?”

“ You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another.

I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy.

“ Bad, bad,” says the buyer, but when he goes away, then he boasts.

No one enters suit justly; no one goes to law honestly; they rely on empty pleas, they speak lies, they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.They hatch adders’ eggs; they weave the spider’s web; he who eats their eggs dies, and from one that is crushed a viper is hatched.Their webs will not serve as clothing; men will not cover themselves with what they make. Their works are works of iniquity, and deeds of violence are in their hands.Their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their highways.

Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.
