Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope.

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

They will say,“ Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice,“ Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.

Then he said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say,‘ Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’

For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

“ You are the sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead.For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,

Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you( but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles.

Otherwise it will come to pass, when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders.”

Martha said to him,“ I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”

You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself.

But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David understood that the child was dead. And David said to his servants,“ Is the child dead?” They said,“ He is dead.”Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes. And he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. He then went to his own house. And when he asked, they set food before him, and he ate.

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.

And the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said,“ O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!”

And he said,“ Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
