Here is another way that our people can learn to engage in good works to meet pressing needs and so not be unfruitful.

So then whether we are alive or away, we make it our ambition to please him.

Better is a dry crust of bread where there is quietness than a house full of feasting with strife.

We do hard work, toiling with our own hands. When we are verbally abused, we respond with a blessing, when persecuted, we endure,

And besides that, going around from house to house they learn to be lazy, and they are not only lazy, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things they should not.

But let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or criminal or as a troublemaker.

The Lord replied,“ Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his household servants, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?Blessed is that slave whom his master finds at work when he returns.

It is like a man going on a journey. He left his house and put his slaves in charge, assigning to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert.

In this way they will train the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children,to be self- controlled, pure, fulfilling their duties at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the message of God may not be discredited.Encourage younger men likewise to be self- controlled,showing yourself to be an example of good works in every way. In your teaching show integrity, dignity,and a sound message that cannot be criticized, so that any opponent will be at a loss, because he has nothing evil to say about us.Slaves are to be subject to their own masters in everything, to do what is wanted and not talk back,not pilfering, but showing all good faith, in order to bring credit to the teaching of God our Savior in everything.

For you know yourselves how you must imitate us, because we did not behave without discipline among you,and we did not eat anyone’s food without paying. Instead, in toil and drudgery we worked night and day in order not to burden any of you.It was not because we do not have that right, but to give ourselves as an example for you to imitate.For even when we were with you, we used to give you this command:“ If anyone is not willing to work, neither should he eat.”For we hear that some among you are living an undisciplined life, not doing their own work but meddling in the work of others.Now such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and so provide their own food to eat.

Do not lag in zeal, be enthusiastic in spirit, serve the Lord.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in every respect, not only when they are watching– like those who are strictly people- pleasers– but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.Whatever you are doing, work at it with enthusiasm, as to the Lord and not for people,because you know that you will receive your inheritance from the Lord as the reward. Serve the Lord Christ.

And in this way I desire to preach where Christ has not been named, so as not to build on another person’s foundation,

Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God.Whoever speaks, let it be with God’s words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function,so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach;if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.

and because he worked at the same trade, he stayed with them and worked with them( for they were tentmakers by trade).

By all these things, I have shown you that by working in this way we must help the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
