又恬靜是務、己事是圖、手自操作、一如我命、

且務安靜、各行己事、親手操作、如我儕所命爾者、

尤須寧靜澹泊、安分守己、躬自操作、悉如吾訓。

and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you,

Better[ is] an handful[ with] quietness, than both the hands full[ with] travail and vexation of spirit.

For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Servants, obey in all things[ your] masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:And whatsoever ye do, do[ it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation:

As every man hath received the gift,[ even so] minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.If any man speak,[ let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister,[ let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:So we,[ being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy,[ let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith;Or ministry,[ let us wait] on[ our] ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth,[ let him do it] with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
