But as for us, brothers and sisters, after we were forced to leave you for a short time( in person, not in heart), we greatly desired and made every effort to return and see you face to face.

But, brothers and sisters, when we were orphaned by being separated from you for a short time( in person, not in thought), out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you.

Brothers and sisters, we were separated from you for a short time. Apart from you, we were like children without parents. We were no longer with you in person. But we kept you in our thoughts. We really wanted to see you. So we tried very hard to do so.

But since we were torn away from you, brothers, for a short time, in person not in heart, we endeavored the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face,

Dear brothers and sisters, after we were separated from you for a little while( though our hearts never left you), we tried very hard to come back because of our intense longing to see you again.

But we, brothers and sisters, having been orphaned from you by absence for a short while— in person, not in spirit— were all the more eager with great desire to see your face.

But we, brethren, having been taken away from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavored more eagerly to see your face with great desire.

But we, brethren, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence not in heart, endeavored the more exceedingly to see your face with great desire:

But when we were separated from you, brothers and sisters, for a short time( in presence, not in affection) we became all the more fervent in our great desire to see you in person.

But we, brothers, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence, not in heart, tried even harder to see your face with great desire,

For I may be absent in body, but I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see how well ordered you are and the strength of your faith in Christ.

Even though I am absent in the body, I am present in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who has been doing such a thing.

But now Timothy has come to us from you and brought us good news about your faith and love. He reported that you always have good memories of us and that you long to see us, as we also long to see you.

Now I don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I often planned to come to you( but was prevented until now) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry among you, just as I have had among the rest of the Gentiles.

But now I no longer have any work to do in these regions, and I have strongly desired for many years to come to you

as we pray very earnestly night and day to see you face to face and to complete what is lacking in your faith?Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you.

God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you. I thirst for you; my body faints for you in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.

Then he said to them,“ I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

Israel said to Joseph,“ I never expected to see your face again, but now God has even let me see your offspring.”

Now if I live on in the flesh, this means fruitful work for me; and I don’t know which one I should choose.I am torn between the two. I long to depart and be with Christ— which is far better—but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.Since I am persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,so that, because of my coming to you again, your boasting in Christ Jesus may abound.

“ And my heart didn’t go when the man got down from his chariot to meet you,” Elisha said.“ Is this a time to accept silver and clothing, olive orchards and vineyards, flocks and herds, and male and female slaves?

Now you have gone off because you long for your father’s family— but why have you stolen my gods?”
