As you know, like a father with his own children,

爾亦知我儕如何視爾各人、猶父之於子、勸勉、安慰、指證、

爾知我勸慰、丁寧爾眾、猶父之勵厥子、

爾亦知我儕勤勉安慰爾中各人、如父於子然、

蓋爾等固知我等待爾人人、一如為父者之待其子、獎掖慰勉、耳提面命、

For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,

You know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

For you know how, like a father with his children,

And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,

as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,

as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,

As you know, like a father with his own children,

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father[ doth] his children,

As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his own children,

As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,

I’m not writing this to shame you, but to warn you as my dear children.For you may have countless instructors in Christ, but you don’t have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing out of favoritism.

Additionally then, brothers and sisters, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received instruction from us on how you should live and please God— as you are doing— do this even more.

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and because of his appearing and his kingdom:Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and teaching.

Although we could have been a burden as Christ’s apostles, instead we were gentle among you, as a nurse nurtures her own children.

“ As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever.

Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy.

Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Have him stand before the priest Eleazar and the whole community, and commission him in their sight.

The LORD said to Moses,“ The time of your death is now approaching. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the tent of meeting so that I may commission him.” When Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the tent of meeting,

Then David said to his son Solomon,“ Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He won’t leave you or abandon you until all the work for the service of the LORD’s house is finished.

Listen, sons, to a father’s discipline, and pay attention so that you may gain understanding,for I am giving you good instruction. Don’t abandon my teaching.When I was a son with my father, tender and precious to my mother,he taught me and said,“ Your heart must hold on to my words. Keep my commands and live.Get wisdom, get understanding; don’t forget or turn away from the words from my mouth.Don’t abandon wisdom, and she will watch over you; love her, and she will guard you.Wisdom is supreme— so get wisdom. And whatever else you get, get understanding.Cherish her, and she will exalt you; if you embrace her, she will honor you.She will place a garland of favor on your head; she will give you a crown of beauty.”Listen, my son. Accept my words, and you will live many years.I am teaching you the way of wisdom; I am guiding you on straight paths.When you walk, your steps will not be hindered; when you run, you will not stumble.

The words of King Lemuel, a pronouncement that his mother taught him:What should I say, my son? What, son of my womb? What, son of my vows?Don’t spend your energy on women or your efforts on those who destroy kings.It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine or for rulers to desire beer.Otherwise, he will drink, forget what is decreed, and pervert justice for all the oppressed.Give beer to one who is dying and wine to one whose life is bitter.Let him drink so that he can forget his poverty and remember his trouble no more.Speak up for those who have no voice, for the justice of all who are dispossessed.Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the oppressed and needy.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.

Now, sons, listen to me, and pay attention to the words from my mouth.

In the presence of God, who gives life to all, and of Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you

my son, don’t travel that road with them or set foot on their path,

In the same way, encourage the young men to be self-controlled

So they sent this message to Joseph,“ Before he died your father gave a command:‘ Say this to Joseph: Please forgive your brothers’ transgression and their sin— the suffering they caused you.’ Therefore, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when their message came to him.

Now we command and exhort such people by the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and provide for themselves.

But commission Joshua and encourage and strengthen him, for he will cross over ahead of the people and enable them to inherit this land that you will see.’

Let those who have believing masters not be disrespectful to them because they are brothers, but serve them even better, since those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved. Teach and encourage these things.

Therefore, I say this and testify in the Lord: You should no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thoughts.

“ Now, my son, may the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as he said about you.Above all, may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he puts you in charge of Israel so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.Then you will succeed if you carefully follow the statutes and ordinances the LORD commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or discouraged.

My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,

My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands;

Command this also, so that they will be above reproach.

My son, obey my words, and treasure my commands.

Slaves are to submit to their masters in everything, and to be well-pleasing, not talking back

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor or entered into an agreement with a stranger,

My son, if sinners entice you, don’t be persuaded.

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen closely to my understandingso that you may maintain discretion and your lips safeguard knowledge.

And when he had passed through those areas and offered them many words of encouragement, he came to Greece

Brothers and sisters, I urge you to receive this message of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.

Proclaim these things; encourage and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
