至吾儕之與爾等信徒相處、如何潔身自好、正直無私、無可指摘、此不惟爾等知之、即天主亦可為證也。

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

You are witnesses of how we lived among you believers. God is also a witness that we were holy and godly and without blame.

You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers.

neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock.

For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me; And when the eye saw me, it gave witness unto me:Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me; And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My justice was as a robe and a diadem.I was eyes to the blind, And feet was I to the lame.I was a father to the needy: And the cause of him that I knew not I searched out.And I brake the jaws of the unrighteous, And plucked the prey out of his teeth.

For neither at any time were we found using words of flattery, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness, God is witness;

Wherefore I testify unto you this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.

giving no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our ministration be not blamed;but in everything commending ourselves, as ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;in pureness, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love unfeigned,in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Herein I also exercise myself to have a conscience void of offence toward God and men always.

but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

I coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.Ye yourselves know that these hands ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

Here I am: witness against me before Jehovah, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I taken a ransom to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken aught of any man’s hand.And he said unto them, Jehovah is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found aught in my hand. O Jehovah my God, if I have done this; If there be iniquity in my hands;If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me( Yea, I have delivered him that without cause was mine adversary;)Let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; Yea, let him tread my life down to the earth, And lay my glory in the dust.[ Selah

Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an ensample to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity.

The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed for evermore knoweth that I lie not.

Open your hearts to us: we wronged no man, we corrupted no man, we took advantage of no man.

And when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?Did not he that made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?If I have withheld the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless hath not eaten thereof( Nay, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, And her have I guided from my mother’s womb);If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering;If his loins have not blessed me, And if he hath not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep;If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, Because I saw my help in the gate:Then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder- blade, And mine arm be broken from the bone.For calamity from God is a terror to me, And by reason of his majesty I can do nothing.If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gotten much;If I have beheld the sun when it shined, Or the moon walking in brightness,And my heart hath been secretly enticed, And my mouth hath kissed my hand:This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judges; For I should have denied the God that is above.If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found him( Yea, I have not suffered by mouth to sin By asking his life with a curse);If the men of my tent have not said, Who can find one that hath not been filled with his meat?( The sojourner hath not lodged in the street; But I have opened my doors to the traveller);If like Adam I have covered my transgressions, By hiding mine iniquity in my bosom,Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, So that I kept silence, and went not out of the door—Oh that I had one to hear me!( Lo, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me) And that I had the indictment which mine adversary hath written!Surely I would carry it upon my shoulder; I would bind it unto me as a crown:I would declare unto him the number of my steps; As a prince would I go near unto him.If my land crieth out against me, And the furrows thereof weep together;If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, Or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:

Jehovah hath rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.For I have kept the ways of Jehovah, And have not wickedly departed from my God.For all his ordinances were before me, And I put not away his statutes from me.I was also perfect with him, And I kept myself from mine iniquity.Therefore hath Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
