You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.

We and the Lord were your examples. You followed us. You welcomed our message even when you were suffering terribly. You welcomed it with the joy the Holy Spirit gives.

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit,

So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord.

and you yourselves became imitators of us and of the Lord when, in spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit.

You also became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word during great affliction with the joy of the Holy Spirit,

And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

And ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit;

and you became imitators of us and of the Lord when, in spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit.

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, when you received the message with joy that comes from the Holy Spirit, despite great affliction.

You became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

Be ye followers of me, even as I also[ am] of Christ.

And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason’s house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd.But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some other believers before the city officials, shouting:“ These men who have caused trouble all over the world have now come here,and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus.”When they heard this, the crowd and the city officials were thrown into turmoil.Then they made Jason and the others post bond and let them go.As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. (niv)

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, (niv)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (niv)

We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co- worker in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. For you know quite well that we are destined for them.In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know. (niv)

Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? (niv)

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. (niv)

And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own people the same things those churches suffered from the Jews (niv)

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children (niv)

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers. (niv)

The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. (niv)

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. (niv)

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.Now if we are children, then we are heirs— heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (niv)

And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches.In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. (niv)

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said,“ I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (niv)

And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. (niv)

You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. (niv)

“ Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her. (niv)

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;perseverance, character; and character, hope.And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (niv)

“ Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied,“ no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospelwill fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields— along with persecutions— and in the age to come eternal life. (niv)

Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. (niv)

Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. (niv)
