because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.

Our good news didn’t come to you only in words. It came with power. It came with the Holy Spirit’s help. He gave us complete faith in what we were preaching. You know how we lived among you for your good.

For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you.

in that our gospel did not come to you merely in words, but in power and in the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction( surely you recall the character we displayed when we came among you to help you).

and that our Good News came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of men we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake.

For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you;nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven— things which angels desire to look into.

to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?Have you suffered so many things in vain— if indeed it was in vain?Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?—

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,

Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel,

For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.

The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,

how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end,

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law;to those who are without law, as without law( not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law;to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty powerwhich He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

For you yourselves know, brethren, that our coming to you was not in vain.But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict.For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit.But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness— God is witness.Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ.But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children.So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.For you remember, brethren, our labor and toil; for laboring night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe;as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,

in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ( by grace you have been saved),

We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed.But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses,in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings;by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love,by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed;as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain.

for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient—in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless.And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:of sin, because they do not believe in Me;of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.“ I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.

just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.

I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel.Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me.I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

And when they had come to him, he said to them:“ You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you,serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews;

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.

And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said,‘ John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying,“ Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.

nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;

not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
