We remember you when we pray to our God and Father. Your work is produced by your faith. Your service is the result of your love. Your strength to continue comes from your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Three things will last forever— faith, hope, and love— and the greatest of these is love.

“ I know all the things you do. I have seen your love, your faith, your service, and your patient endurance. And I can see your constant improvement in all these things.

For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.

So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.

We were given this hope when we were saved.( If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it.But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

But now Timothy has just returned, bringing us good news about your faith and love. He reports that you always remember our visit with joy and that you want to see us as much as we want to see you.

Since you excel in so many ways— in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us— I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.I am not commanding you to do this. But I am testing how genuine your love is by comparing it with the eagerness of the other churches.You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

because I keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God’s people.And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.

So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.Now someone may argue,“ Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say,“ How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.And so it happened just as the Scriptures say:“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.

may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

This is good and pleases God our Savior,

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.

Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence.

But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”They replied,“ We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?”Jesus told them,“ This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

So Jacob worked seven years to pay for Rachel. But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days.

Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.

“ If you love me, obey my commandments.

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”Judas( not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name) said to him,“ Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?”Jesus replied,“ All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.

It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,

Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.

Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God— which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.And then, dear brothers and sisters, you suffered persecution from your own countrymen. In this way, you imitated the believers in God’s churches in Judea who, because of their belief in Christ Jesus, suffered from their own people, the Jews.

Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.

He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover and to sprinkle blood on the doorposts so that the angel of death would not kill their firstborn sons.It was by faith that the people of Israel went right through the Red Sea as though they were on dry ground. But when the Egyptians tried to follow, they were all drowned.It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days, and the walls came crashing down.It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God. For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets.By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions,quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.

Timothy, I thank God for you— the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.

God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless— like chasing the wind.

After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter,“ Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”“ Yes, Lord,” Peter replied,“ you know I love you.”“ Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.Jesus repeated the question:“ Simon son of John, do you love me?”“ Yes, Lord,” Peter said,“ you know I love you.”“ Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.A third time he asked him,“ Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

He told me,‘ Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been noticed by God!

Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned.

You see, we are not like the many hucksters who preach for personal profit. We preach the word of God with sincerity and with Christ’s authority, knowing that God is watching us.

“ I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars.You have patiently suffered for me without quitting.“ But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!

But now as the prophets foretold and as the eternal God has commanded, this message is made known to all Gentiles everywhere, so that they too might believe and obey him.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proudor rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

“ Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world.

So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
