眾之被簡為閽者、二百十二人、循其譜系鄉里而計之、即大闢及先見者撒母耳所立、因其敏捷故也。

約書亞既沒、以色列族問於耶和華曰、孰可先往、代我攻迦南人。

蓋耶和華使爾閉目酣睡、民長先知、均蔽厥心、

亞撒震怒、幽先見者於獄、虐遇其民。

是時先見者哈拿尼、覲猶大王亞撒、告之曰、因爾恃亞蘭王、不爾上帝耶和華是賴、故不克亞蘭軍。
