約書亞死後，以色列人求問耶和華說：「我們中間誰當首先上去攻打迦南人，與他們爭戰呢？」

因為耶和華將沉睡的靈澆灌你們，遮住你們的眼，眼就是先知，覆蓋你們的頭，頭就是先見。

亞撒惱恨先見，為了這事向他發怒，將他囚在監裏。那時亞撒也虐待一些百姓。

那時，哈拿尼先見來見猶大王亞撒，對他說：「因你仰賴亞蘭王，沒有仰賴耶和華－你的神，所以亞蘭王的軍兵逃脫了你的手。
