When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD told him,“ Here is the man I told you about; he will govern my people.”

When Samuel caught sight of Saul, the Lord said to him,“ This is the man I spoke to you about; he will govern my people.”

When Samuel saw a man coming toward him, the Lord spoke to Samuel again. He said,“ He is the man I told you about. His name is Saul. He will govern my people.”

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord told him,“ Here is the man of whom I spoke to you! He it is who shall restrain my people.”

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said,“ That’s the man I told you about! He will rule my people.”

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him,“ Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! This one shall rule over My people.”

So when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him,“ There he is, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall reign over My people.”

And when Samuel saw Saul, Jehovah said unto him, Behold, the man of whom I spake to thee! this same shall have authority over my people.

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord told him,“ Here is the man I told you about; he will rule over My people.”

And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.

When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said,“ Here is the man that I told you about! He will rule over my people.”

When Samuel saw Saul, Yahweh said to him,“ Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! He will have authority over my people.”

I give you a king in my anger and take away a king in my wrath.

Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval.For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong.

When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and said,“ Certainly the LORD’s anointed one is here before him.”But the LORD said to Samuel,“ Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the LORD sees, for humans see what is visible, but the LORD sees the heart.”Jesse called Abinadab and presented him to Samuel.“ The LORD hasn’t chosen this one either,” Samuel said.Then Jesse presented Shammah, but Samuel said,“ The LORD hasn’t chosen this one either.”After Jesse presented seven of his sons to him, Samuel told Jesse,“ The LORD hasn’t chosen any of these.”Samuel asked him,“ Are these all the sons you have?”“ There is still the youngest,” he answered,“ but right now he’s tending the sheep.” Samuel told Jesse,“ Send for him. We won’t sit down to eat until he gets here.”So Jesse sent for him. He had beautiful eyes and a healthy, handsome appearance. Then the LORD said,“ Anoint him, for he is the one.”

When shadows began to fall on the city gates of Jerusalem just before the Sabbath, I gave orders that the city gates be closed and not opened until after the Sabbath. I posted some of my men at the gates, so that no goods could enter during the Sabbath day.

I told him that I am going to judge his family forever because of the iniquity he knows about: his sons are cursing God, and he has not stopped them.

I rebuked them, cursed them, beat some of their men, and pulled out their hair. I forced them to take an oath before God and said,“ You must not give your daughters in marriage to their sons or take their daughters as wives for your sons or yourselves!

But all the wicked are like thorns raked aside; they can never be picked up by hand.The man who touches them must be armed with iron and the shaft of a spear. They will be completely burned up on the spot.
