But the matter was displeasing in the sight of Samuel when they said,“ Give us a king to judge us.” And Samuel prayed to the Lord.

But when they said,“ Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord.

Samuel was displeased with their request and went to the Lord for guidance.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

But they themselves were filled with senseless rage, and began discussing together what they might do to Jesus.Now it was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer with God.

When I heard about this matter, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled out some of the hair from my head and my beard, and sat down appalled.Then everyone who was frightened by the words of the God of Israel on account of the unfaithfulness of the exiles gathered to me, and I sat appalled until the evening offering.But at the evening offering I stood up from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn, and I bowed down on my knees and spread out my hands to the Lord my God;

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

In return for my love they act as my accusers; But I am in prayer.

But now, if You will forgive their sin, very well; but if not, please wipe me out from Your book which You have written!”

But they fell on their faces and said,“ God, the God of the spirits of humanity, when one person sins, will You be angry with the entire congregation?”

Then Moses became very angry and said to the Lord,“ Pay no attention to their offering! I have not taken a single donkey from them, nor have I done harm to any of them.”

And Moses said to Aaron,“ Take your censer and put fire in it from the altar, and place incense on it; then bring it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone out from the Lord, the plague has begun!”

Then Moses said to Aaron,“ What did this people do to you, that you have brought such a great sin upon them?”
