Then Samuel took a suckling lamb and sacrificed it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on Israel’s behalf, and the Lord answered him.

Then Samuel got a very young lamb. He sacrificed it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord to help Israel. And the Lord answered his prayer.

Then he would make his return to Ramah, because his house was there, and there he also judged Israel; and there he built an altar to the Lord.

Call upon Me on the day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will honor Me.”

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.

When the people of the city got up early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal had been torn down, and the Asherah which had been beside it had been cut down, and the second bull had been offered on the altar which had been built.

And the cart came into the field of Joshua the Beth shemite and stopped there where there was a large stone; and they split the wood of the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the Lord.And the Levites took down the ark of the Lord and the saddlebag that was with it, in which were the articles of gold, and put them on the large stone; and the men of Beth shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices that day to the Lord.

But Samuel said,“ How can I go? When Saul hears about it, he will kill me.” But the Lord said,“ Take a heifer with you and say,‘ I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’

Then Elijah said to all the people,“ Come forward to me.” So all the people came forward to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord which had been torn down.Then Elijah took twelve stones, corresponding to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying,“ Israel shall be your name.”And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar, large enough to hold two measures of seed.Then he laid out the wood, and he cut the ox in pieces and placed it on the wood.And he said,“ Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.” And he said,“ Do it a second time,” so they did it a second time. Then he said,“ Do it a third time,” so they did it a third time.The water flowed around the altar, and he also filled the trench with water.Then at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet approached and said,“ Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.Answer me, Lord, answer me, so that this people may know that You, Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood, and the stones and the dust; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

They answered them and said,“ He is; see, he is ahead of you. Hurry now, for he has come into the city today, because the people have a sacrifice on the high place today.

And you shall go down ahead of me to Gilgal; and behold, I will be coming down to you to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice peace offerings. You shall wait seven days until I come to you and inform you of what you should do.”

and build an altar to the Lord your God on the top of this stronghold in an orderly way, and take a second bull and offer a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down.”
