When they had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the Lord. On that day they fasted and there they confessed,“ We have sinned against the Lord.” Now Samuel was serving as leader of Israel at Mizpah.

When the people had come together at Mizpah, they went to the well and got water. They poured it out in front of the Lord. On that day they didn’t eat any food. They admitted they had sinned. They said,“ We’ve sinned against the Lord.” Samuel was serving as the leader of Israel at Mizpah.

So they gathered at Mizpah and drew water and poured it out before the Lord and fasted on that day and said there,“ We have sinned against the Lord.” And Samuel judged the people of Israel at Mizpah.

So they gathered at Mizpah and, in a great ceremony, drew water from a well and poured it out before the Lord. They also went without food all day and confessed that they had sinned against the Lord.( It was at Mizpah that Samuel became Israel’s judge.)

哈拿回答说：“主啊，不是这样。我是心里愁苦的妇人，清酒浓酒都没有喝，但在耶和华面前倾心吐意。

我们与我们的祖宗一同犯罪；我们作了孽，行了恶。

他们若在掳到之地想起罪来，回心转意，恳求你说：‘我们有罪了，我们悖逆了，我们作恶了’；

锡安民的心哀求主。锡安的城墙啊，愿你流泪如河，昼夜不息；愿你眼中的瞳人泪流不止。夜间，每逢交更的时候要起来呼喊，在主面前倾心如水。你的孩童在各市口上受饿发昏；你要为他们的性命向主举手祷告。

耶和华说：“虽然如此，你们应当禁食、哭泣、悲哀，一心归向我。”

我的眼泪下流成河，因为他们不守你的律法。

我要起来，到我父亲那里去，向他说：父亲！我得罪了天，又得罪了你；

你们众民当时时倚靠他，在他面前倾心吐意；神是我们的避难所。细拉

只要承认你的罪孽，就是你违背耶和华你的神，在各青翠树下向别神东奔西跑，没有听从我的话。这是耶和华说的。’“耶和华说：‘背道的儿女啊，回来吧！因为我作你们的丈夫，并且我必将你们从一城取一人，从一族取两人，带到锡安。

我昼夜以眼泪当饮食；人不住地对我说：“你的神在哪里呢？”

约沙法便惧怕，定意寻求耶和华，在犹大全地宣告禁食。

我因唉哼而困乏；我每夜流泪，把床榻漂起，把褥子湿透。

那时，我在亚哈瓦河边宣告禁食，为要在我们神面前克苦己心，求他使我们和妇人孩子，并一切所有的，都得平坦的道路。我求王拨步兵马兵帮助我们抵挡路上的仇敌，本以为羞耻；因我曾对王说：“我们神施恩的手必帮助一切寻求他的；但他的能力和忿怒必攻击一切离弃他的。”所以我们禁食祈求我们的神，他就应允了我们。

因此我厌恶自己，在尘土和炉灰中懊悔。”

“我是卑贱的！我用什么回答你呢？只好用手捂口。

人子啊，你要审问审问他们吗？你当使他们知道他们列祖那些可憎的事，

耶和华的灵降在他身上，他就作了以色列的士师，出去争战。耶和华将美索不达米亚王古珊利萨田交在他手中，他便胜了古珊利萨田。

献晚祭的时候我起来，心中愁苦，穿着撕裂的衣袍，双膝跪下向耶和华我的神举手，说：“我的神啊，我抱愧蒙羞，不敢向我神仰面；因为我们的罪孽灭顶，我们的罪恶滔天。从我们列祖直到今日，我们的罪恶甚重；因我们的罪孽，我们和君王、祭司都交在外邦列王的手中，杀害、掳掠、抢夺、脸上蒙羞正如今日的光景。现在耶和华我们的神暂且施恩与我们，给我们留些逃脱的人，使我们安稳如钉子钉在他的圣所，我们的神好光照我们的眼目，使我们在受辖制之中稍微复兴。我们是奴仆，然而在受辖制之中，我们的神仍没有丢弃我们，在波斯王眼前向我们施恩，叫我们复兴，能重建我们神的殿，修其毁坏之处，使我们在犹大和耶路撒冷有墙垣。“我们的神啊，既是如此，我们还有什么话可说呢？因为我们已经离弃你的命令，

他在人前歌唱说：‘我犯了罪，颠倒是非，这竟与我无益。

我的眼多多流泪，总不止息，

所以你将他们交在敌人的手中，磨难他们。他们遭难的时候哀求你，你就从天上垂听，照你的大怜悯赐给他们拯救者，救他们脱离敌人的手。

我眼中流泪，以致失明；我的心肠扰乱，肝胆涂地，都因我众民遭毁灭，又因孩童和吃奶的在城内街上发昏。

“他们要承认自己的罪和他们祖宗的罪，就是干犯我的那罪，并且承认自己行事与我反对，

我回转以后就真正懊悔；受教以后就拍腿叹息；我因担当幼年的凌辱就抱愧蒙羞。”

因你的恼怒，我的肉无一完全；因我的罪过，我的骨头也不安宁。我的罪孽高过我的头，如同重担叫我担当不起。因我的愚昧，我的伤发臭流脓。我疼痛，大大拳曲，终日哀痛。我满腰是火；我的肉无一完全。我被压伤，身体疲倦；因心里不安，我就唉哼。

我便禁食，披麻蒙灰，定意向主神祈祷恳求。我向耶和华我的神祈祷、认罪，说：“主啊，大而可畏的神，向爱主、守主诫命的人守约施慈爱。我们犯罪作孽，行恶叛逆，偏离你的诫命典章，

这月二十四日，以色列人聚集禁食，身穿麻衣，头蒙灰尘。以色列人就与一切外邦人离绝，站着承认自己的罪恶和列祖的罪孽。那日的四分之一站在自己的地方念耶和华他们神的律法书，又四分之一认罪，敬拜耶和华他们的神。

耶和华的话二次临到约拿说：“你起来！往尼尼微大城去，向其中的居民宣告我所吩咐你的话。”约拿便照耶和华的话起来，往尼尼微去。这尼尼微是极大的城，有三日的路程。约拿进城走了一日，宣告说：“再等四十日，尼尼微必倾覆了！”尼尼微人信服神，便宣告禁食，从最大的到至小的都穿麻衣。这信息传到尼尼微王的耳中，他就下了宝座，脱下朝服，披上麻布，坐在灰中。他又使人遍告尼尼微通城，说：“王和大臣有令，人不可尝什么，牲畜、牛羊不可吃草，也不可喝水。人与牲畜都当披上麻布；人要切切求告神。各人回头离开所行的恶道，丢弃手中的强暴。或者神转意后悔，不发烈怒，使我们不致灭亡，也未可知。”于是神察看他们的行为，见他们离开恶道，他就后悔，不把所说的灾祸降与他们了。

我的朋友讥诮我，我却向神眼泪汪汪。
