When they had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the Lord. On that day they fasted and there they confessed,“ We have sinned against the Lord.” Now Samuel was serving as leader of Israel at Mizpah.

When the people had come together at Mizpah, they went to the well and got water. They poured it out in front of the Lord. On that day they didn’t eat any food. They admitted they had sinned. They said,“ We’ve sinned against the Lord.” Samuel was serving as the leader of Israel at Mizpah.

So they gathered at Mizpah and drew water and poured it out before the Lord and fasted on that day and said there,“ We have sinned against the Lord.” And Samuel judged the people of Israel at Mizpah.

So they gathered at Mizpah and, in a great ceremony, drew water from a well and poured it out before the Lord. They also went without food all day and confessed that they had sinned against the Lord.( It was at Mizpah that Samuel became Israel’s judge.)

锡安的城墙啊，你要从心里向主呼求！你的眼泪要像江河一样昼夜涌流，不歇不眠。你要在夜间起来，在主面前整夜呼求，向祂倾心吐意；你要为饿昏街头的孩童向主举手祷告。

耶和华说：“现在，你们要禁食、哭泣、哀号，全心回转归向我。”

我泪流成河，因为人们不遵行你的律法。

我要动身回到我父亲身边，对他说，父亲，我得罪了天，也得罪了你，

众百姓啊，要时刻信靠上帝，向祂倾心吐意，因为祂是我们的避难所。（细拉）

‘你必须要承认自己的罪，承认背叛了你的上帝耶和华，在绿荫树下祭拜各种外邦的神明，不听从我的话。’这是耶和华说的。“‘不忠贞的子民啊，回转吧！因为我是你们的主人。我要从你们中间选些人带回锡安，每座城邑或每个宗族选一两个人。’这是耶和华说的。

我不吃不喝，昼夜以泪洗面，人们整天讥笑我：“你的上帝在哪里？”

约沙法很害怕，决定寻求耶和华，在整个犹大宣告禁食。

我因哀叹心力交瘁，夜夜哭泣，泪漂床榻，湿透被褥。

然后，我在亚哈瓦河边宣布禁食，为要在我们的上帝面前谦卑下来，祈求祂保护我们、我们的儿女及财物一路平安。我羞于求王派步兵和骑兵沿途帮助我们御敌，因为我们曾经告诉王：“我们的上帝会施恩帮助寻求祂的人，但会向背弃祂的人发烈怒。”因此，我们为这事禁食、寻求我们的上帝，祂应允了我们。

因此我厌恶自己，在尘土和炉灰中忏悔。”

“我这样卑微，怎能答复你？我只有用手掩口。

人子啊，你要审判他们？你要审判他们？要使他们知道他们祖先所做的可憎之事。

耶和华的灵降在俄陀聂身上，他就做了以色列的士师，领兵出战。耶和华将美索不达米亚王古珊·利萨田交在他手中，他便战胜了古珊·利萨田。

献晚祭的时候，我满怀忧伤地起来，穿着那撕裂的衣服和外袍，双膝跪下，向我的上帝耶和华伸出双手，说：“我的上帝啊，我羞愧难当，不敢抬头看你，因为我们的恶行灭顶，我们的罪恶滔天。从我们的祖先开始到现在，我们罪恶深重。由于我们的罪恶，我们、我们的君王和祭司都落在外邦君王的手中，被他们杀害、俘虏、抢掠和羞辱，如同今天的光景。但如今我们的上帝耶和华暂且施恩于我们，为我们存留一些余民，使我们安然住在这圣洁之地。你使我们眼睛明亮，在我们受奴役时赐给我们一点生机。虽然我们是奴隶，我们的上帝却没有离弃受奴役的我们，祂在波斯众王面前施恩于我们，使我们复兴、得以重建毁坏的上帝的殿，让我们在犹大和耶路撒冷有护墙。“如今，我们的上帝啊，事已至此，我们还能说什么呢？因为我们背弃了你的诫命，

他会当众歌唱说，‘我犯了罪，颠倒是非，祂却没有按我的罪报应我。

于是你把他们交在欺压他们的仇敌手中。他们在患难中向你呼求，你就从天上垂听，怀着丰盛的怜悯赐给他们拯救者，把他们从仇敌手中拯救出来。

我哭得眼睛失明，心如刀割，肝胆欲碎，因为人民惨遭毁灭，儿童和婴孩昏倒在街头。

“如果他们承认自己和祖先的罪，就是背叛我、与我作对的恶行——

我们曾经离开你，但我们后悔了；我们醒悟之后捶胸顿足，痛悔不已，因早年的所作所为而羞愧难当。’”

你的怒气使我浑身是病，我的罪恶使我骨头朽烂。我的罪恶滔天，使我不堪其重。我因愚昧而伤口溃烂流脓。我疼得弯腰驼背，终日哀伤。我的腰灼痛难忍，我浑身是病。我精疲力尽，彻底崩溃；我心中悲伤，呻吟不止。

我便禁食，身披麻衣，头蒙灰尘，向主上帝祷告祈求。我向我的上帝耶和华祷告、认罪，说：“主啊，你是伟大而可畏的上帝，你向那些爱你、遵守你诫命的人信守你的慈爱之约。我们犯罪作恶，行为邪恶叛逆，偏离你的诫命和典章，

这月二十四日，以色列人聚集禁食。他们身披麻衣，头撒尘土。以色列人与其他外族人隔离，站着承认自己的罪恶和祖先的过犯。他们站在自己的地方，宣读他们上帝耶和华的律法书，长达三个小时。他们又用了三个小时认罪，敬拜他们的上帝耶和华。

耶和华第二次对约拿说：“你起身前往尼尼微大城，向那里的居民宣告我先前吩咐你的话。”约拿便照耶和华的吩咐前往尼尼微城。尼尼微城很大，要三天才能走遍。约拿进城走了一天，宣告说：“再过四十天尼尼微就要毁灭了！”尼尼微城的人相信了上帝的话，便宣告禁食，所有的人，无论大小贵贱都换上麻衣。尼尼微王听到这消息后，便走下宝座，脱下王袍，披上麻衣，坐在炉灰中。王又向全城颁布命令，说：“王和大臣有令，所有的人都必须禁食，牛羊牲畜都不许吃草也不许喝水。人和牲畜都必须披上麻衣，众人要向上帝恳切呼求，改邪归正，停止作恶。上帝或许会施怜悯，收回烈怒，使我们不致灭亡，也未可知。”上帝看见他们改邪归正，不再作恶，就怜悯他们，没有像所说的那样毁灭他们。

我的朋友讥笑我，我在上帝面前流泪。
